In the introduction of their 2013 work, Early Rymes of Robyn Hood: An Edition of the Texts, ca. 1425-1600, Thomas H. Ohlgren and Lister M. Matheson give a call to action for scholars in the field of Robin Hood Studies to examine these early texts in new ways. This introduction to the special issue, “New Readings of the Early Robin Hood Tradition,” puts forth the ways that the contributors to the matter push the field of Robin Hood Studies in new directions.
