Abstract

The professional school application process often feels like a test of perfection. Society tells us we need to do everything
— every shadowing hour, every leadership role, every volunteer opportunity — to prove we’re worthy. It’s easy to feel like
confidence is reserved for those who seem flawless on paper. But true confidence doesn’t come from perfection; it comes
from authenticity. Through my own dental school application journey, I’ve learned that overcoming imposter syndrome and
comparison isn’t about doing more — it’s about trusting that who you already are is enough.
