Open Access Policy

The journals we host and publish are digital and diamond open access—free for users to read online and without author facing charges (APCs). The diamond open access publishing model promotes equity in scholarly communication by making all content free online to everyone—both readers and authors. Despite there being many different types of open access publishing, and with different names, only the diamond open access model ensures that published materials begin and remain entirely free of charges, paywalls, and subscription or membership restrictions for everyone. Our diamond open access publishing model is made possible by Ball State University Libraries.

 

Copyright and Reuse Policy

Open Journals uses Creative Commons licenses to make all published content freely and immediately available online while allowing authors to maintain their copyright. 

Each journal chooses which Creative Commons license that applies to their journal, most of which select the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). This means that (but is not limited to):

  • The authors grant a Creative Commons copyright license in the article to the general public.
  • The authors agree to require that a citation to the original publication of the work be included in any attribution statement satisfying the attribution requirement of the Creative Commons license.
  • The authors retain ownership of all rights under copyright in all versions of the work, and all rights not expressly granted in any author agreement form or contract signed with the Journal.

 

Ethics Policy or Statement

Each journal will be required to have an ethics policy or criteria that outlines the editorial expectations and processes, including quality review processes such as peer reviewer and author guidelines.

 

AI-related Policy

As recommended by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), each journal should have an AI-related policy. Please see the DOAJ’s guidance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automated tools for authors and for journals.

 

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of each journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
