Scope

Ball State University Libraries offers free journal publishing services to members of the BSU community. The journals we host and publish are digital and diamond open access—free for users to read online and without author facing charges (APCs).

The journal hosting program is free to members of the BSU community. It is the hope that offering this type of journal hosting service allows BSU affiliated journals to increase their goals and impact on the scholarly community.

Our journal hosting program costs are currently absorbed by the University Libraries’ operating budget as our mission includes supporting the teaching and research needs of the university and providing access to scholarship created at BSU. Our costs currently include using the Public Knowledge Project’s (PKP) managed hosting services with their Open Journal Systems (OJS) software and organizational members that help us create, manage, and sustain a variety of digital publishing services (e.g., Library Publishing Coalition, ORCID, Crossref, Open Education Network, etc.).
